Unlike previous years' simple product displays, this year they brought not only products, but also a complete set of thoughts on "sensing." At the expo, gongkong® had the opportunity to interview Wei Yuan, Product Director of the Product Management Department of Yangtze Sensing, for an in-depth dialogue on how sensors empower intelligent manufacturing, focusing on technological innovation, domestic substitution, industry applications, and future plans.
From "Seeing" to "Seeing Accurately": How Sensors Become the Eyes of Machines
Walking into any modern smart factory, you'll find that production lines are moving at increasingly faster paces, and the requirements for precision are becoming increasingly stringent. Especially in precision manufacturing fields such as semiconductors and lithium batteries, traditional sensors often fall short in such environments: dust accumulation on lenses leads to attenuation of light absorption, temperature changes cause detection drift, and operators have to frequently stop for maintenance, severely hindering production efficiency.
"The essence of sensors is to translate the changes in the physical world into a language that machines can understand," Wei Yuan's opening statement was concise and powerful. He told us that Yangtze Sensors' product line covers multiple series, including fiber optics, optoelectronics, light curtains, laser displacement, and laser ranging, with each series constantly iterating based on market demand. Taking fiber optic sensors as an example, their star product, the CX6 series, won the "CIIF Smart Manufacturing Award" at the China International Industry Fair. Its automatic light-gathering compensation function has been widely praised in practical applications—when dust accumulation or positional shift causes a decrease in light gathering, the sensor automatically adjusts the threshold, maintaining stable detection without manual intervention.
"In precision manufacturing fields like semiconductors and lithium batteries, stability is paramount," Wei Yuan explained. He cited the example of the CX6 series, where manual maintenance was nearly impossible in hazardous gases or confined spaces, a problem perfectly solved by its automatic light-gathering compensation function. It not only makes the equipment "visible," but also "accurate" and "long-lasting." Beyond fiber optic sensors, Yangtze Sensors also boasts a rich optoelectronic product line: from slotted optoelectronics to ultra-thin series, from color mark sensors to label sensors, basically covering all kinds of detection needs in industrial settings. Wei Yuan revealed that the company is continuously iterating its products, striving for breakthroughs in sensor response speed, detection accuracy, and environmental adaptability.
Safety and Reliability: Dual Protection from Product Design to Systems Thinking
With the increasing level of industrial automation, human-machine collaboration scenarios are becoming more frequent, leading to a rise in safety risks. In welding, stamping, and forging processes, high pressure, high temperature, and strong electromagnetic interference coexist, placing stringent demands on the safety level and reliability of sensors.
Wei Yuan specifically mentioned that Yangtze Sensor's technological accumulation in the fields of safety light curtains and area light curtains is precisely to address these complex challenges. Taking the CSS series safety light curtain as an example, it has passed EU Level 4 safety certification, with a detection distance of up to 7 meters and a minimum detection object diameter of only 10 millimeters. "In high-current, high-voltage environments, people cannot enter, but the equipment must detect whether someone has mistakenly entered," Wei Yuan explained. The CSS series adopts a dual-channel redundant design, with the two output ports mutually verifying each other. If one signal is abnormal, the system will immediately cut off the output, ensuring absolute safety. Combined with safety relays, it can also achieve various advanced safety functions such as interlocking, warning zones, shielding, and floating blanking.
This dual protection, from hardware to logic, is a concrete manifestation of Yangtze Sensor's mission to "make the Internet of Things more reliable." Wei Yuan frankly stated that reliability is not just a slogan, but a process of control from R&D and testing to production. The company has its own 45,000-square-meter production base, with testing standards exceeding national standards, and some even adopting military-grade testing methods, such as 1,000-hour aging tests, high and low temperature cycling, vibration and shock tests, and more than 60 other type tests, ensuring that every product can work stably in harsh environments.

The Confidence in Domestic Substitution: From Technological Independence to Service Implementation
In recent years, the Sino-US rivalry and supply chain fluctuations have created a window of opportunity for domestic sensors to replace foreign products. However, leading companies still have doubts about domestic brands: Can the stability withstand long-term testing? Can the consistency rival imports? If problems arise, can the service keep up? As a fundamental industrial component, the reliability of sensors directly affects the entire production line operation. Domestic manufacturers must prove that they can not only manufacture them, but also provide continuous and excellent service.
Facing these challenges, Wei Yuan believes that Yangtze Sensing's confidence stems from three aspects. First, technological independence. Since establishing its sensing business unit in 2015, the company has continuously invested in the R&D and supply chain of core components, and currently possesses numerous independent intellectual property rights. Second, end-to-end service. The company's senior management has proposed the concept that "everyone is a service provider," forming a closed loop from initial customer needs assessment and solution design to responding within two hours and resolving issues within 24 hours after product delivery.
Finally, an international perspective. Last year, Yangtze Sensing established a foreign trade department and an international project department, proactively positioning itself for overseas markets. Wei Yuan shared an experience from exporting to North America: a mirror-reflective product experienced light attenuation in the local low-temperature, snowy environment, a problem never encountered domestically. The team quickly conducted on-site surveys and discovered that the national standard's requirements for low-temperature adaptability were insufficient to cover the extreme climate of North America. Therefore, they specifically optimized the product, ultimately solving the problem. "For domestically produced products to go global, they must meet even higher domestic standards." Currently, Yangtze Sensing's products are used by leading companies such as BYD, CIMC, and the Civil Aviation Administration of China, and have accumulated numerous case studies in industries such as logistics, lithium batteries, automobiles, and robotics. From catching up in technology to implementing services, Yangtze Sensing is winning the market's trust in "Made in China" through solid projects.
Near the end of the interview, Wei Yuan's words left a deep impression:
"Sensors are not just parts; they are the eyes, ears, and nerves of intelligent
