151X1219CB03SA01 Power Converter GE-151X1219CB03SA01

This module also provides overvoltage protection. During the demagnetization process, the rotor windings generate extremely high back electromotive force due to sudden changes in the magnetic field. This module limits the back electromotive force to the tolerance range of power devices and insulation materials by controlling the on/off sequence of the demagnetization circuit and the timing of resistor activation, thus preventing breakdown of key components such as thyristors and rectifier bridges in the excitation system.

The core function of this module is to quickly cut off the rotor excitation current and safely release the rotor magnetic field energy when the generator needs to be shut down urgently or when protection actions are triggered. The specific working process is as follows: When the system receives a generator protection signal (such as differential protection, loss of excitation protection, overvoltage protection, etc.) or a manual trip command, this module immediately activates, driving the demagnetizing switch or thyristor commutation to switch the rotor winding from the excitation power supply side to the demagnetizing resistor circuit. This causes the rotor magnetic field to decay to zero in a very short time (usually tens of milliseconds), while simultaneously dissipating the stored magnetic field energy as heat in the demagnetizing resistor.

This module also provides overvoltage protection. During demagnetization, the rotor windings generate extremely high back electromotive force (EMF) due to sudden changes in the magnetic field. This module controls the on/off sequence of the demagnetization circuit and the timing of resistor activation to limit the back EMF within the tolerance range of power devices and insulation materials, preventing damage to critical components such as thyristors and rectifier bridges in the excitation system.

This module also features rotor overcurrent monitoring. It monitors the rotor circuit current in real time during demagnetization. If the current exceeds a set threshold, an alarm or interlock is triggered to prevent the demagnetization resistor from overheating and burning out, or the rotor windings from being damaged by abnormal current.

In the system architecture, this module is connected in series with an AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator), an excitation selector (such as IS200ESELH1A), and a power rectifier module. During normal operation, this module is in standby mode and does not participate in regulation. Once the protection system issues a trip command, the AVR first exits regulation, and then this module performs the de-excitation action to complete the demagnetization. Mark V and Mark VI systems typically configure dual-channel de-excitation modules for redundancy, ensuring that if one channel fails, the other channel can still reliably perform demagnetization.
